Spotify starts verifying non-AI artists, adds more details about all artists | Infinium-tech
Spotify has started verifying non-AI artists, to increase “authenticity and trust for the artists behind the music.” This is a surefire way to tell that any artist that is not verified is likely an AI.
Verified by the Spotify badge indicates that the artist in question has consistent listener activity and engagement over time, is in good standing with Spotify’s platform policies, and has “a recognizable artist presence both on and off the platform, such as concert dates, merchandise, and linked social accounts”.

It goes without saying, but AI-generated or AI-personality artists are not eligible for verification. at least for now. Spotify says that “the concept of artist authenticity is complex and rapidly evolving” and that the company will continue to evolve its approach over time.
The new badge will begin appearing next to the artist’s name in artist profiles and searches “in the coming weeks.” There will be “Verified by Spotify” text and a light green checkmark icon. Spotify says 99% of the artists people are actively searching for will be verified at launch. It is “prioritizing artists with active fan interest, or who have made significant contributions to music culture and history, rather than functional music creators and content farms whose content is designed primarily for passive or background listening”.

Spotify is also introducing a new beta section on all artist profiles that highlights details like career milestones, release activity, and touring activity. This will be available in the About section of all artist profiles on mobile “in the coming weeks,” and you’ll also see it when you tap the Verified by Spotify banner.
