vivo V40 and V40 Pro debut with big batteries in ultra-thin bodies | Infinium-tech
The Vivo V40 and Vivo V40 Pro have gone official today, featuring substantial improvements in battery capacity while retaining the ultra-thin body. New camera setups and designs are also part of the package.
The Vivo V40 inherits the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 from the Vivo V30, while the Vivo V40 Pro takes a big leap forward and now features the Dimensity 9200+ chip, which is much more powerful than the Dimensity 8200 that powered the last three Vivo V Pro phones.
The V40 and V40 Pro share the same dimensions (164.2 x 74.9 x 7.58mm) and have the same display – a 6.78-inch AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2,800 x 1,260 pixels.
The screen now reaches a maximum brightness of 4,500 nits, which is a huge upgrade over the similarly sized panel on the V30 series. The panel has a punch hole for a single 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 camera.
The back of the V40 Pro features a 50MP main camera with a Sony IMX921 sensor, a 50MP telephoto portrait camera with a Sony IMX816 sensor, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera with an unnamed sensor.
The vanilla V40 makes do with two cameras on an island that in the company’s words is inspired by the star constellation Gemini – a 50MP main and a 50MP ultra-wide.
The main camera has AI Aura Light Portrait enabled by OIS and ring LED flash.
The phones come with Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14. The company promises “50 months of great experience”, which refers to the duration of their software support. Apart from this, the batteries are promised to run 1,600 full cycles and retain at least 80% of their original capacity, which increases the life of the phone.
Even more impressive is that the V40 and V40 Pro have a 5,500mAh battery – the largest battery ever in the Vivo V series. They also support the fast 80W FlashCharge over wire.
The Vivo V40 has three memory options: 8/128 GB, 12/256 GB and 12/512 GB. The Vivo V40 Pro also comes in three different variants: 8/256 GB, 12/256 GB or 12/512 GB.
Both Vivo phones come in Meteor Blue, Moonlight White, and Stellar Silver colours, but the V40 has two more colours – Nebula Purple and Sunglow Peach.
The Vivo V40 and V40 Pro are now available in India and will then gradually roll out to other markets. The V40 starts at INR39,999 ($480/€440), while the Vivo V40 Pro starts at INR54,999 ($655/€600).
