Google’s Satellite SOS feature is now being included in the Pixel 9 series. It was announced when the phone was unveiled. It’s currently only available in the US, and will be free for the first two years. It’s unclear how much the service will cost after that.
To use Satellite SOS, Google Messages needs to be the default messaging app on your Pixel 9. Once you get a notification that the service is live, head to Settings > Security & Emergency > Satellite SOS to learn more about it and check out the demo to see how it works.

Before you can contact emergency services via Satellite SOS, you’ll need to answer a few questions about your emergency situation to ensure you get the best help for your particular situation. Note that when your phone uses Satellite SOS, it shares your name, email, phone number, location, device details, and emergency contact details with emergency services and satellite service providers. Google has partnered with Skylo for the backend, while Garmin is handling the emergency response.
