Sony says AI frame generation is coming to PlayStation at some point in the future | Infinium-tech
In an interview, Mark Cerny, chief systems architect for Sony PlayStation, said that the company is working closely with AMD to bring AI-powered frame generation to PlayStation. The main goal is to improve frame rates without relying on more powerful hardware.

Sony and AMD are already working on Project Amethyst, a graphics machine learning technology designed specifically for PlayStation hardware. AMD’s upcoming FSR Redstone suite forms the foundation of the project, and it provides not only upscaling but also frame generation and ray reconstruction.
Interestingly, the current PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution feature already shares some core elements with AMD’s FSR Redstone. Therefore, it is not entirely new, but an improvement on existing technology.
Unfortunately, Mark Cerny said the AI-powered feature isn’t expected to arrive any time soon, and certainly not within this year. However, it is clear that Sony and AMD have already prepared for this and hopefully we will get a glimpse of this feature next year.
