Samsung unveils Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 with Intel’s new Core 7 Ultra Series 2 processor | Infinium-tech
Just before IFA 2024 kicks off, Samsung introduced the first laptop in the Galaxy Book 5 series and it’s a thin, light, AI-focused laptop with a beautiful OLED display, all-day battery life, and new processors from Intel.
Yes, Intel. Maybe the Book 5 series will get a Snapdragon version in the future, but today it’s all about the Series 2 Intel Core Ultra processors. They bring 47 TOPS of NPU power, which makes them eligible for the Copilot+ PC brand.
The Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 is a convertible laptop with a 16-inch OLED touchscreen and has S Pen support. The hinge allows the screen to rotate 360°, turning it into a Windows tablet. Speaking of which, the screen is a 2,880 x 1,800px panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and anti-reflective coating. By the way, the S Pen is included in the standard retail package.
It’s lightweight for a 16-inch laptop, weighing in at 1.69 kg (3.73 lbs) and measuring 12.8 mm (0.5”) thick. It’s backed by a fairly large 76Wh battery, which charges using a 65W USB-C adapter. The battery should last up to 25 hours of video playback. And you’ll also enjoy Dolby Atmos sound from the quad speaker system throughout (2x 5W woofers, 2x 3.3W tweeters).
Right now it seems there is only one variant and it uses Intel Core Ultra 7 256V with Intel Arc 140V GPU (8GB). The GPU promises a 17% performance increase over Intel’s previous effort.
It has 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM (soldered in) and you get the option to choose between 512GB and 1TB NVMe SSD (this should be user accessible, but there’s only one slot).
Key features of the Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360
The Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 is equipped with great connectivity options. There is an HDMI 2.1 port (up to 8K @ 60fps or 5K @ 120fps), two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB-A 3.2, and a headphone/mic combo jack. Wireless options include Wi-Fi 7 (b, 2×2) and Bluetooth 5.4.
The laptop comes with Windows 11 Home and several AI features, including Circle to Search, Chat Assist, Live Translate, and Transcript Assist. Samsung advertises “over 300 AI-accelerated experiences across over 100 creativity, productivity, gaming, and entertainment apps.”
