Samsung halts One UI 6.1.1 rollout for the Galaxy S23 Ultra | Infinium-tech

On Monday, Samsung started pushing the One UI 6.1.1 update to the Galaxy S23 family in Europe, India, and other markets. Today, the company has suspended the rollout for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The reason for this is a bug that is causing ghosting in photos captured at zoom levels between 16x and 19.9x. This issue does not affect any other phones, so the rollout was halted only for the S23 Ultra.

The company is currently working on resolving the issue. Once it is done, it will fix it and re-release the update. It is not yet clear how long this will take, but it is expected to be no more than a few days, at most a week.

While Samsung does this, if you have the S23 Ultra and it presents the above issue, you can temporarily work around it by going into the Camera app’s Settings, tapping Intelligent Optimization, and switching to the Medium quality setting, as shown in the screenshot above.

As you might have imagined, this will reduce image quality a bit, so it’s recommended to leave it at maximum if you never go into the 16x to 19.9x zoom range. You can also use Samsung’s Expert Raw camera app which isn’t affected by the bug.
