CMF is a more affordable sub-brand of Nothing and has already released half a dozen products. Last year it launched its first smartwatch and this summer introduced its second smartwatch – the CMF Watch Pro 2.

We spent a few weeks with the wearable device and we’re finally ready to share our experiences.

design

The CMF Watch Pro 2 features a circular display, moving away from the rectangular screen of its predecessor. Since the original CMF Watch Pro is still available, this effectively lets you choose between two different styles.

The watch has an aluminum case with a matte finish, giving it a sleek look. However, the “CMF Buy Nothing” branding on the bezel feels excessive. Luckily, the bezel is replaceable, and the wearable looks much better without the letters.

The watch has a 1.32″ AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, which is good for its price range. The size fits most wrists without being too small or too large, striking a good balance.

However, it’s hard for us to understand why the watch is labeled “Pro”. With only two wearable devices in the CMF lineup, both of which are “Pro”, it’s clearly not a case of something being a better version. Nor is it a particularly premium product in the grand scheme of things.

Our review unit came with blue leather straps. Although this reviewer is not a fan of leather, we have to admit that the strap held up well – it felt very comfortable and showed no signs of breaking in nearly two months.

We tested the Watch Pro 2 across a variety of activities, including swimming, running, rock climbing, and a gym session. What’s impressive is that neither the case nor the strap suffered any damage, showing that the watch has excellent durability.

The AMOLED display is vibrant, although the auto-brightness feature sometimes lags, especially in cloudy conditions, with selecting settings too low making the screen difficult to read.

There is a rotating crown on the side that also functions as a button. While an extra button would have been nice, the responsive touchscreen compensates for its absence.

software

Although CMF is positioned as an affordable brand of nothing, the Watch Pro 2 does not feel cheap. It not only looks good but also performs well, connecting seamlessly with both Android and iOS phones.

CM offers hundreds of available watch faces, categorized by style rather than function. There is no app store; This is not an expected feature at this price.

Navigating the interface is intuitive, and although the layout may take some getting used to, it’s a refreshing departure from other smartwatch platforms. Exclusivity was not the goal, and they achieved it.

Activity & Tracking

As we mentioned, we performed a variety of activities while testing the Watch Pro. A common feature was slow GPS lock-on, which is frustrating for runners and cyclists.

Even in open locations, a GPS lock can take two to five minutes, which is not competitive in today’s market. That said, the watch includes a 12-step guided warm-up routine, and if you follow it it gives you enough time to link it to the GPS.

The watch can work independently if you don’t want to take your phone with you, but CMF warns you that its data may be less accurate in that mode.

Compared to other fitness trackers, including Samsung, Huawei, Garmin, and Coros devices, the Watch Pro 2’s training logs were almost a perfect match. This was unexpected considering the difference in price.

Health and sleep tracking is basic but functional, with features like blood oxygen saturation, stress readings, and sleep monitoring all improved since the first Watch Pro. However, it lacks advanced metrics like ECG or skin temperature monitoring.

During testing, the Watch Pro 2 provided sleep data that aligned with the reviewer’s daily driver, the Huawei Watch GT4.

battery life

Nothing claims that the CMF Watch Pro 2 can last for 11 days with normal usage and 9 days with heavy usage. With Always-On Display (AOD) enabled, this drops to 4-5 days. In fact, these numbers appear to be inflated. We achieved just under 10 days with normal usage and around 7 days with what we call heavy usage. AOD reduces stamina by 4 days even with health sensor turned off.

These figures are somewhat unimpressive among watches without a proper OS, but the Watch Pro 2 comfortably beats the Apple and Samsung watches, which certainly have much more advanced operating systems.

The watch charges using a proprietary cable with a pogo pin, and it does not support wireless charging, as it obviously wouldn’t fit into the available budget. It takes about 100 minutes to fully charge from 0%, while it takes 30 minutes to reach 50%.

Pricing and Conclusion

The CMF Watch Pro 2 is available in four colors – dark gray or ash gray with plastic straps, and orange or blue with leather straps. It is priced at €69 in Europe, £69 in the UK, and INR 4,999 (approximately $59) in India.

The design is interesting, the software is clean software, and running and cycling tracking was pretty accurate. Although GPS could be improved and advanced health features are missing, there’s hardly a better wearable at this price.

Pros

  • Comfortable size that works for everyone
  • beautiful design
  • durable body
  • software software

Shortcoming

  • no in-depth analysis
  • sluggish gps
  • Battery life could be better
  • the second button would have been useful
