Leaked Sony Xperia 1 VIII renders hint at major redesign | Infinium-tech
It may be April 1st, but there have been some genuinely conflicting reports regarding a series of redones for the upcoming Sony Xperia 1 VII, and we finally have some clarity. The controversy started when photos of the Xperia 1 VIII were revealed weiboDemonstration of a modified camera design.
Sony Xperia 1 VIII case render
The renders showed a square-shaped cutout housing three camera sensors and an LED flash, which would be a major design deviation from the vertically aligned camera setup of the Xperia 1 VII.
We can also see a punch hole cutout for the front-facing camera, which would be a distinct change from every other Sony smartphone to date, which has opted to place the camera within the top display bezel. Another strange thing is that the renders show several small holes around the camera sensor, leading many to believe that these are figments of the imagination.

In the following days, Sony Fans Vietnam admin, who has a positive leak track record, suggested that the final design of the Xperia 1 VIII may look different, but it will have a redesigned camera island.
Post Turns out the renders don’t depict the final design of the Xperia 1 VIII, but we also get confirmation that the upcoming Sony flagship smartphone will feature a zoom lens with a “much larger sensor size” than the current Xperia 1 VII. The larger sensor size is the reason why Sony is expected to bring a redesigned camera island with a square look.
So that’s the gist of this batch of leaked renders. They may show us Sony’s updated camera island, but expect some changes to the overall design. The only other information we’ve seen regarding the Xperia 1 VIII is a listing on the IMEI database.
