Google and Apple make it easier to switch from iOS to Android | Infinium-tech
During the Android Show I/O Edition 2026 keynote, Google announced a meaningful improvement in the iOS to Android migration process, as it now supports more types of data. Right now, moving from iOS to Android would mean that you would lose a huge chunk of your data.

Starting with Android 17, you’ll be able to move from iPhone to Android more easily. The feature expands its capabilities, and it can now transfer files like accessibility settings, alarms, apps (free apps with user data), calendar entries, call history, email accounts, eSIM, images, videos, etc., messages, notes, passwords, wallpapers, WhatsApp data, and even home screen layouts.
However, there is a catch. Like recent features like the Circle to Search functionality, the advanced switch will be made available on Galaxy and Pixel phones first. The new Switch will likely debut with Android 17 and Samsung’s One UI 9 that will come with the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip8, Z Fold8, and Z Fold8 Wide this July. After this this feature will become available on other Android phones.
Samsung has already started the One UI 9.0 beta program, so we may see the upgraded Smart Switch sooner than expected.
