Kuo: iPhone 16 Pro early oders meet expectations but vanilla models see lackluster sales | Infinium-tech
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that production of Apple iPhone 16 devices is on plan. Assembly orders for all four phones remain basically unchanged, with only a slight 3-5% decline in component orders for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.
Demand for the base 16 models remains low, while shipments of the 16 Pro models are on par with last year’s iPhone 15 Pro orders.
The report revealed that suppliers were told to continue production of both Pro models during China’s week-long National Day holiday, meaning demand for both remained generally in line with expectations for this year’s phones Is. Still, Kuo pointed out that the current shipping time for the 16 Pro is shorter than that of the iPhone 15 Pro.
The market is bracing for an impact on US market demand and shipments in late October. That’s when Apple is expected to push a software update with Apple Intelligence, which should improve sales. However, this remains mostly a US issue, as AI will not be reaching Europe or China any time soon.

The production estimate for iPhone 16 devices in Q4 2024 is 88-89 million units, down slightly from last year’s 90-91 million devices.
