iPhone 18 Pro’s variable aperture cameras enter production phase | Infinium-tech
A new report from South Korea etnews Suggests that the supply chain of components related to the variable aperture cameras of the iPhone 18 Pro series has now begun operation. China’s Sunny Optical has reportedly begun trial production for the actuators, which will be used on variable aperture cameras, the report claims.
An unnamed industry source confirmed that LG Innotek is scheduled to begin production for the camera module of the 18 Pro between June and July. The same source also confirmed that LG has installed dedicated equipment related to the production process of variable aperture cameras at its Gumi plant in South Korea.

The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are expected to be the first iPhones with a main camera with a variable aperture. This rumor has come up more than once and is generally considered a lock at this point. The updated variable aperture camera is expected to bring better low-light photography and video along with updated depth of field control for users.
