Instagram Reels can now be paused with a single tap | Infinium-tech
Instagram has introduced a new feature aimed at making it easier to interact with Reels. The feature is available on the web and also on both Android and iOS apps with the latest updates.
The Meta-owned platform announced the feature through a post on threads. With the update, users can now pause the reels with a simple tap. Previously, tapping the reels muted the audio.
Previously, pausing the reels required a tap-and-hold gesture. With the update, a single tap pauses playback and a mute option appears when the reels are paused.
In December 2025, Instagram also announced an app that brought Reels to TV.
