Huawei HarmonyOS Next launch date confirmed | Infinium-tech
Huawei’s HarmonyOS Next has been in development for the past few years, but the commercially ready version is finally getting a launch date – October 22, which is also the rumored launch date for the Nova 13 series.
HarmonyOS Next is a significant step forward for Huawei’s software ambitions as it will leave the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and support for Android applications in place of its own in-house code and apps. The developer edition was released last summer and Huawei’s software division has been busy developing an ecosystem of apps and services to welcome users. Based on the latest reports, HarmonyOS Next powers over 10,000 apps and services.
HarmonyOS Next is similar in appearance to the current HarmonyOS but lacks the ability to run Android code and apps. HarmonyOS uses a self-developed microkernel operating system based on NeXT openharmony Open-source core.
It supports apps through the Arch compiler with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) and HarmonyOS Next promises a seamlessly integrated architecture between devices and the cloud as well as interconnectivity across different device form factors.
