Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max in for review | Infinium-tech
Every year, we hear about the “biggest update to iPhone ever,” and while the accuracy of this varies, today you truly stand before the biggest iPhone ever — the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Let’s finish unboxing it before we move on. You get a nice, braided USB-C cable and a SIM tool – enjoy these while you can, we have a feeling these might run out soon too.
Apple has given this year’s Pro Max a really big 6.9-inch screen, but it doesn’t feel like a big iPhone. That’s because Apple has also slimmed down the bezels and hasn’t changed the size too much. Still, apart from the unchanged thickness of 8.3mm, this year’s bigger iPhone is slightly larger than its predecessor in all directions.
Apart from the bigger screen and chip updates, the biggest new feature on the iPhone 16 Pro Max is the new camera control button, which is a pretty innovative concept. It’s a reasonable button – it presses to open the camera app from any screen (double press from a locked phone), but then it can also recognise the pressure and open a deeper layer of controls, and you can swipe up on it.
We really like this new button as it can open the camera app from anywhere, but it will take us some time to get used to it. Our first impression is that it’s better suited for portrait use and for right-handed people – it’s not the most comfortable in landscape mode.
Talking about the size of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, it is next to the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The iPhone is smaller than the Pixel but if put together, it doesn’t seem to have a bigger screen than the Galaxy.
Big guns – Galaxy S24 Ultra, iPhone 16 Pro Max, Pixel 9 Pro XL
We’ve started working on the iPhone 16 Pro Max review, but there’s a lot to test so be patient!
