Weekly poll: can the vivo V40 or the vivo V40 Pro be your next phone? | Infinium-tech
This week Vivo has introduced the V40 duo, a pair of mid-rangers that focus on durability and camera features. Well, the V40 has actually been in the market for a while now, but this is the first time it’s launching in India. The Pro model is all-new.
Starting with the Vivo V40 Pro, it offers better performance with the Dimensity 9200+ chipset and fast UFS 3.1 storage. It also has a telephoto camera, a 50MP module with 2x optical zoom.
• Vivo V40 Pro with D9200+ • Vivo V40 with SD 7th Gen 3
The Vivo V40 doesn’t have a tele camera and uses a less powerful but still pretty fast Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset with UFS 2.2 storage. Both phones use the same wide and ultra-wide cameras on the rear and a similar selfie module.
This means a 50MP main (1/1.56″ sensor, OIS) and a 50MP ultra wide (119°). On the front, there’s a pretty impressive 50MP module with a 21mm wide lens with autofocus. Both the front and rear cameras can record 4K videos at 30fps.
Other things to mention are the curved 6.78″ OLED display (1260p+, 120Hz, up to 4,500 nits) and the large 5,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging (wired only). We mentioned durability, so here are the details. This comes from the IP69K rating, which is for resistance against hot water jets (on top of the IP68 rating for underwater immersion).
Curved 6.78” OLED display • Large 5,500mAh battery
Considering the 8/256GB unit, the Vivo V40 is priced at €500/₹40,000 and the Vivo V40 Pro is priced at ₹50,000. Details about the availability of the V40 Pro in Europe have not been announced yet.
Let’s take a look at the competitors. The Xiaomi 14 Civi is available in India for ₹40,000 for the 8/256GB phone. It comes with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and a flat 6.55” OLED display. It also loves selfies and has a pair of 32MP cameras on the front – one with a 26mm wide lens and the other with a 100° ultra wide lens. On the back, there’s a 50MP main (1/1.55”), 50MP 2x tele and 12MP ultra wide (120°). The relatively small 4,700mAh battery supports 67W wired charging.
The Realme 13 Pro+ is still cheaper at ₹32,000, but it also brings lesser performance with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. It has a 6.7” OLED display (lower resolution, FHD+) and a 5,200mAh battery with 80W charging. It has a 32MP selfie camera with a 22mm lens on the front. On the back is a 50MP main (1/1.56”), 50MP tele 73mm lens (3x) and an 8MP ultra wide (112°).
