The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra might get full Linux terminal support | Infinium-tech
We know most people won’t care about this at all, but if you’re reading this article, you’re probably among the minority who might actually be pleased to know that Samsung can catch up to Google’s own Pixel devices in this extremely specific aspect.
Our colleagues at Android Authority got access to some leaked logs of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. In them, he saw mention of the Android Virtualization Framework (AVF) – a key component in running a full Linux terminal that was absent in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The S26 Ultra is expected to debut with One UI 8.5, with leaked builds pointing to the phone running the second quarter release (QPR2) of Android 16 at launch. This is the same release in which Google introduced the Linux Terminal feature, so all the prerequisites appear to be in place.

In practice the Linux terminal feature means access to a whole sea of Linux-based apps that typically require a computer to run. Tinkerers and developers alike will enjoy the expanded functionality.
And if you were wondering about the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, we recently got a mega leak that you can check out.
