Spotify for iOS and iPadOS now shows EU pricing inside the app | Infinium-tech
Back in March, the European Commission (EC) slapped a hefty €1.8 billion ($2B) fine on Apple for “abusing its dominant position” in music streaming on iOS and iPadOS. It was Spotify that issued the initial complaint to the EU in 2019 and now the Stockholm-based streaming service is getting a small win in the EU where its iOS and iPadOS apps can display subscription tier pricing and promotional offers.
Sadly there are no direct links to external payment options (such as Spotify’s official website) just yet as they would be subject to a 27% commission on sales from Apple. Spotify is allowed to refer users to subscribe to its service through its website, but without actually showing the domain or hyperlinking it.
