Sony announces Xperia 1 VII replacement program | Infinium-tech
Earlier this month, Sony stopped the sale of its Xperia 1 VII due to random reboots, shutdowns and inability to electricity. The brand later began an investigation on the issue and it seems that it has come to a conclusion.
It appears that many Xperia 1 VII units are affected by a defective circuit board, resulting in the above issues. As a result, Sony affected Xperia 1 VII will offer a free replacement program for users. The brand also confirmed that it changed its manufacturing process to ensure future units that would not suffer from the same issue.
Our investigation has concluded that the manufacturing process Xperia 1 VII can cause a small number of circuit board failure, which can potentially result in electric issues.

If their device is affected, Sony will provide more instructions about how to apply for a replacement unit. The replacement program is scheduled to begin on 21 July. Sony also reminds affected users to back up their data before sending them to their equipment for replacement.
