Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s GPU tested at 1.15GHz, promises up to 56% improvement over 8 Gen 3 | Infinium-tech
We’re seeing some impressive benchmark results from the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, but most of them are focused on the CPU side. However, the new GPU, the Adreno 830, could be an even bigger upgrade, with one Weibo user reporting a 43% to 56% improvement.
The GPU will reportedly run at 1.15GHz. Ice universe The report mentions clock speeds as high as 1.25GHz being tested. Note that the 1.15GHz figure and the benchmark results below are from QRD, aka Qualcomm Reference Device, which typically uses early runs of new chips that may not hit the same clock speeds as the retail version, so 1.25GHz is still possible.
GFX Bench’s Aztec Ruins High results show a 125fps result for the 8 Gen 4 chip, while the Adreno 750 inside the 8 Gen 3 achieves 96fps. Other results for the new GPU include 166fps on 3DMark’s Wild Life Offscreen test and 44fps on Wild Life Extreme Unlimited.
The first phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 should be the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro, followed by the OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13. We’ve also seen benchmarks from the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but it’s unclear if this generation will have higher clocked chips “for the Galaxy”.
Speaking of which, the two prime cores in the Galaxy S25 Ultra were clocked at 4.2GHz. We’ve also seen them lower (4.1GHz) and higher (4.32GHz), so we’re not sure what the final clock speeds for the CPUs will be. There was talk last year that Qualcomm might dual-source 8 Generation 4 chips, but recently we’ve only heard about 3nm chips from TSMC’s foundry.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to arrive next month, and the first phones using it should arrive almost immediately afterward (the OnePlus 13 is confirmed to launch in October, Xiaomi’s phone will arrive even sooner).
