Samsung details the Now Bar in One UI 7, its take on the Dynamic Island | Infinium-tech
Samsung’s One UI 7 based on Android 15 is currently in the beta testing phase, and today the company gave us more details about its AI chops.
Samsung says the Now Bar is a “defining element” of One UI 7. It’s basically the Korean company’s own interpretation of the Dynamic Island concept. In Samsung’s own words, the Now Bar “gives a new meaning to personalization by integrating your everyday tasks and most-used apps into your lock screen”.
As you can see from the image above, the Now bar resides in the bottom center of your lock screen, and lets you control your entertainment, schedule your next personal best workout, get directions to your next meeting, and more. Allows you to receive or initiate communication in other languages.” ,
The Now Bar will also be “an access point to the most comprehensive hands-on experiences ever” on Galaxy devices. For example, if you’re packing for a trip, it will prompt you to create a folder of your essential apps for quick access.
It’ll also let you know when it’s time to leave for the airport, which is something Google has been doing successfully left and right on Android devices for years, but hey – this is Samsung’s take on the same feature. The Now Bar will also offer “curated travel playlists to set the mood” for your flight, though it’s unclear in which music app it will do so.
You can get the weather forecast with a single swipe, and the Now Bar will help you “recap the highlights” at the end of each day.
Now that aside, Samsung has also elaborated on its Personal Data Engine, “a powerful privacy advancement that ensures on-device, cross-app personal data protection”. The data is stored in a secure location, protected by encryption keys managed by Knox Vault, the same trusted platform that secures your biometric data. There is also an additional layer of security with post-quantum cryptography.
