Report: Chinese Android makers are testing under-display selfie cameras with 3D facial recognition | Infinium-tech
3D Facial Recognition Hardware is a luxury in today’s smartphone market, with Apple the only prominent player who offers face ID on his iPhone. According to a new report, many Chinese smartphone manufacturers are internal testing equipment with under-screen cameras and 3D facial recognition.
Report comes from tipster Digital chat station And suggests that we may soon see the first crop of devices with “invisible” selfie cameras for biometric authentication. No specific manufacturer or model was mentioned for now.
While iPhones have identified 3D face for a while, it still has a rareness on Android devices. One of the only manufacturers offering Honor feature, Magic 7 Pro is the most recent example.
We have also seen many Android devices with under -display (UD) selfie cameras, mainly from ZTE Nubia lineup – Z70s Ultra is a recent example. What we have not seen yet is a device that has both 3D face scanning and a UD camera, so it will be interesting to see how this technology develops and which brand will release the first device to combine both features.
