Realme GT8 is official with SD 8 Elite, Ricoh-tuned 50MP cameras | Infinium-tech
Here comes the Realme GT8, riding on the coattails of the GT8 Pro. The pair made their official debut in China today, and although the vanilla ones are similar in appearance and on paper, there are some subtle differences.
For starters, the camera island isn’t customizable, so you’re better off choosing what you like up front. Like the GT8 Pro, it comes in white, green and blue. The green color has a micro-textured finish, while the other two are matte.
The Realme GT8 packs the 2024 Snapdragon 8 Elite instead of the Elite Gen 5 inside the GT8 Pro. Another difference is in the 7,000mAh battery, which takes slower 100W wired charging (versus 120W), but still only 2 minutes behind the Pro in 45 minutes to 100%. However, you don’t get wireless charging.

The vanilla has the same 6.79-inch 1440p AMOLED with a 144Hz LTPO panel and up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness (and up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness).
But Realme GT8 has a technically inferior camera system. The main camera is the same 50MP 1/1.56-inch sensor with a 22mm f/1.8 lens, and it’s tuned by still photography noble Ricoh. You get Ricoh’s color science with different shooting modes like high-contrast B&W, monotone, and standard. Ricoh cameras are known for their clear images and natural colors and contrast.

But other cameras are different. The zoom is a 50MP unit (not 200MP) and it has a long-reaching 80mm f/2.8 lens. It may itself be a more distinct unit than a lower unit.
The ultrawide is 8MP with a smaller sensor, and the ultrawide has only half the resolution of 16MP.

The Realme GT8 boots Android 16-based Realme UI 7.0. The camera app sees a new design in line with the phone’s Ricoh collaboration.

Realme GT8 goes on sale in China from today in various configurations.
