Qualcomm is working on a much better chipset for smartwatches | Infinium-tech
According to a new rumor, Qualcomm is currently working on a new chipset for Smartwatch, which has been named aspen and the model number SW6100 has been affected. From this we can guess that it will be marketed as Snapdragon Wear W6, as W5 has model number SW5100.
Interestingly, the new chip is not based on any existing Qualcomm product, unlike all its predecessors. Snapdragon wear w6 is beespoke for wearable platforms, and its CPU will have a Cortex-A78 core and four Cortex-A55 core with LPDDR5X RAM support. It will be made by TSMC.

The W5 was unveiled in 2022, and so it is definitely a high time for replacement from Qualcomm. The W6 focuses on the performance with four Cortex-A53 core to four Cortex-A55 and a Cortex-e78 Big Core to perform at its predecessor. If that configuration seems familiar, it is because Samsung’s Exynos W1000 also uses it.
It is not clear when Qualcomm will bring the new SOC to the market, but it can be declared at its annual Snapdragon summit in September, in the event in which we should look at the first smartwatch to use it in early 2026.
