OpenAI starts rolling out group chats for ChatGPT users globally | Infinium-tech
OpenAI began piloting group chats for ChatGPT users last week. The feature was available on web and mobile to logged-in users on ChatGPIT’s Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans, but only in Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand, and South Korea. OpenAI said the rollout would be expanded to more regions based on feedback, which has been positive, and the company announced the rollout of group chat to ChatGPT users globally.
,Initial feedback from the pilot has been positive, so we’re expanding group chat to all logged-in users on ChatGPS Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans globally in the coming days. We’ll continue to refine the experience as more people start using it,OpenAI said in a blog post.

OpenAI lets you invite up to 20 people to group chats, and responses in group chats are driven by ChatGPT 5.1 Auto, which chooses the best model to respond based on the prompts of the user responding and the available models.
Additionally, the rate limit only applies when ChatGPT responds, not when users are chatting with each other in a group.
