Notification Rules could make Android alerts even more flexible | Infinium-tech
Android’s notification management system is already quite advanced and flexible, but it may soon get some extra smarts. Android currently has features like notification channels, notification cooldown, modes and notification organizer. Now Google is apparently working on something called Notification Rules.

Notification rules were seen in Android 17 beta 3. According to the strings discovered by Android Authority, the rules can be based on apps or people. The actions available when a given rule matches its criteria are: Silence, Block, Silence and Bundle, Highlights, Highlight and Alert. Some of these are certainly more self-explanatory than others. It seems like there would be a new way to highlight or prioritize certain information, perhaps in some visual way. Finally, the new Notification Rules feature can allow you to say don’t receive notifications for calls from a certain contact or perhaps get priority notification for messages from certain contacts.
It’s also perhaps interesting to note that traces of notification rules have also been seen in some Samsung One UI 9 builds, meaning this likely won’t be a Pixel-exclusive feature.
