Motorola Razr 50 in for review | Infinium-tech
Going by the name of phones these days, you would think that the Motorola Razr 50 is a step below the Razr 50 Ultra. To get close to the Ultra, there should be at least a Pro. But you would be wrong. We will explain this in detail after the unboxing.
Motorola ships the Razr 50 in a flavourful retail box that includes a vegan leather case with a metal strap hook, a colour-matching vegan leather strap, and a USB-C cable. You’ll need to bring your own charger, though.
The Razr 50 is a lot closer to the Razr 50 Ultra than you might think. It runs the less powerful but equally efficient 4nm Dimensity 7300X chipset, has the same size 6.9-inch internal display but runs at a slower 120Hz (not 165Hz), while its cover screen is a 3.6-inch 90Hz unit compared to the 4.0-inch 165Hz on the Ultra. You get the same main camera, but a 13MP ultrawide camera with autofocus instead of the Ultra’s 50MP 2x zoom camera.
Finally, wired charging maxes out at 30W (15W less), but you retain 15W wireless charging, and the 4,200mAh is actually 5% larger (200mAh).
You could argue that these concessions aren’t small, but the counterargument is that for this type of device, it’s more important to maintain the display ratio, which the Razr 50 mostly does. It’s also obviously a lot cheaper than the Ultra.
Razor 50 from the front and from the back
But this is where conversions get tricky. At the time of writing, the Razr 50 (also known as the Razr 2024) costs $700 in the US and €950 in Europe. While there is a lot of difference between the two, these prices are pretty steep. But don’t jump to buying advice just yet. Wait for our review first.
