Meta bans third-party LLM chatbots in WhatsApp | Infinium-tech
WhatsApp announced upcoming changes to its terms of service that will block users from using non-Meta AI chatbots. This means that no third-party chatbots will now be allowed inside the messaging app. This change will take effect on January 15, 2026, which is also the last date when WhatsApp Business users will be able to use ChatGPT, Copilot, and any other non-Meta AI chatbot inside the messaging app.

OpenAI first announced its separation from WhatsApp last month, while Microsoft confirmed that Copilot would no longer be available inside WhatsApp earlier this week. There is a small exception for businesses that are using AI bots to serve customers on WhatsApp, which will still be allowed. ChatGPT users on WhatsApp will be able to migrate their WhatsApp chat history, while Copilot users will not be able to do so.
