The MediaTek vs Qualcomm battle in the top mobile chipset space will be more interesting than ever later this year when the former releases the Dimensity 9400 and the latter releases the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

Today a new rumor from Digital Chat Station on Weibo has shed some light on what we can expect from the Dimensity 9400, and it’s good news. Apparently its single-core CPU performance will be around 30% better than the Dimensity 9300 that was launched last year, which, we must point out, wasn’t bad at all.

The single-core CPU performance of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC will be 30% better than the 9300

Energy efficiency has also been greatly improved, as the bigger cores require only 30% of the power consumption compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU to perform the same tasks, according to the report. The Dimensity 9400 is 35% more efficient than its predecessor.

Overall, it looks like this will be a win for MediaTek, and it will certainly be able to continue competing directly with Qualcomm at the top end of the market.
