LG Innotek will provide the entire initial supply of telephoto camera sensors for the iPhone 16 Pro phones.

According to a report by media outlet The Electric, the Korean component maker has received a full order for the first batch of folded-zoom modules, and will also provide the OIS actuators in partnership with Jahwa Electronics.

The first order of telephoto camera sensors for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max is “more than half of them,” and some reports are claiming that this amount is about 70% of all forecasted sales. The rest of the sensors will be manufactured by Foxconn and Cowell in the fourth quarter of 2024 as Apple attempts to reduce average costs.

LG Innotek was the sole provider of modules for the iPhone 15 Pro Max last year. Sharp was also expected to be involved this year, but the Japanese company pulled out, the report said. This year, both the Pro and Pro Max will get the Tetraprism camera, which has 5x optical zoom.
