iPhone 17 family to have big display upgrades | Infinium-tech
According to Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants, the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Slim (which will replace the Plus model as it isn’t selling well at all), iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max will all come with significant display upgrades next year.
Young says the iPhone 17 will finally get a 120Hz refresh rate and an LTPO OLED panel, which means it will be able to change the refresh rate to much lower rates, possibly even down to 1Hz. This has been a long time coming, as Apple still, even with the iPhone 16 family, maintains a higher refresh rate for the Pro models.
As with the iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Slim will also get 120 Hz and LTPO, although this is less surprising in its case since its thinness will make it a kind of halo product (or at least Apple hopes so), and you can’t find one of them in which such a basic high-end feature is missing.
Apparently, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature Face ID under the display. This has been rumored for a long time, and now it looks like we’re just a year away from it hitting the market. This means that the Dynamic Island could be gone, or at least change accordingly, as the cutout in the screen will be much smaller, housing only the selfie camera. Thus, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will now look more like flagship Android devices.
