Insta360 Ace Pro 2 action cam shoots 8K video with its Leica lens | Infinium-tech
Insta360 has today launched the Ace Pro 2 action camera, entering a field dominated by GoPro and where DJI is also a competitor. The camera is priced at $399.99, which actually makes it $50 less than its predecessor. In the EU, it is €449.99.
The GoPro inspiration for the design is clear, and yet the Insta360’s front display only displays information, not a live feed of what the camera sees. For this you get a hinged main screen, now 2.5″ in size, with better brightness and pixel density.
The Ace Pro 2 is rugged and water resistant up to 12 meters (with precise underwater controls). It can record 8K video at 30fps and 4K120fps slo-mo using a 1/1.3″ type sensor. It is paired with a 157-degree wide-angle Coca-Cola Summarit lens. Speaking of Leica, you’ll get the 157-degree wide-angle Lens see you.
The hardware paired with AI-enhanced software is promised to deliver “stunning low-light clarity.” And with PureVideo, noise is reduced while brightness and detail are increased (it’s only available up to 4K60fps). Photos are captured in 50 MP resolution.
There’s promised to be no image quality loss when zooming up to 2x, and the new integrated wind guard keeps noise to a minimum. Battery life is said to be 180 minutes, and it only takes 18 minutes to charge to 80% with a 30W PD adapter. It takes 47 minutes to fully charge.
