Huawei Mate X6 hands-on – GSMArena.com news | Infinium-tech
Introduction
Today – Huawei Mate X6 recently started its global rollout.
Huawei says its latest book-style foldable is its first true flagship foldable. That means it has impressive cameras, a capable battery, and it’s elegant and well-built. Well, a true flagship also has the best chipset, but Huawei refuses to discuss that part of the hardware.
We introduced the new Mate
design
The Huawei Mate X6 is one of the thinnest and lightest book-style foldables available on the market. It is quite similar to the Honor Magic V3, although there are differences here and there.
The Mate
The fact is that the Mate X6 feels extremely thin in the hand. It’s easy to open and close with a neat magnetic snap. The phone can stand on its own when folded and doesn’t wobble too much if you use it open and flat on a desk.
The display of the Mate X6 looks almost identical to the Honor Magic V3. You have a 6.45-inch LTPO OLED cover screen with a standard aspect ratio of 20:9. On the inside is a 7.93-inch LTPO OLED with an aspect ratio of about 1:1.
But Honor Magic V3 is the leader in the world of foldables. If you have Huawei Mate
The difference in thickness is obvious. The Mate X6 has a very short hinge and a very slim frame. However, we will admit that the flat frames of the other two feel a little more comfortable when opening and closing.
Galaxy Z Fold6 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold compared
Looking at the display, the Huawei Mate X6 is the best phone to use in fold mode. Its 6.45-inch is the best here. We’d say the main screen battle is a battle between the Pixel and the Mate – the Galaxy is the smallest.

The crease isn’t huge or obtrusive but it is there. We would say that it does not emerge for right or wrong reasons.
camera
The Mate X6 has an impressive camera system (not just for a foldable). The main unit is a 50 MP unit with a variable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture with 8 intermediate steps (f/1.6, 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, 2.5, 2.8, 3.2, 3.5). The size of the sensor is unclear at this point but it is expected to be respectable.
It has a 40 MP ultrawide camera with a 13mm f/2.2 lens and PDAF, along with a 90mm f/3.0 periscope telephoto camera with a 48 MP sensor. Selfies are captured by two 8 MP units.
We’ll continue with some samples (and some selfies) captured with the Mate X6’s main and telephoto cameras. We’ll reserve our detailed analysis for our review. Enjoy and stay tuned for more on the Mate X6 when the phone is back in the office!
