Honor will start mass production of the Robot Phone in the first half of 2026 | Infinium-tech
When we saw the first teaser, we thought the Honor Robot Phone looked cool, but we questioned whether we’d ever see a working prototype of it. Honor actually has prototypes, though it’s planning the big reveal for MWC 2026 (which is scheduled for March). Okay, but it’s just a prototype, they’ll never sell a phone like that, right?
Wrong – Weibo Leakster smartpikachu The report said that the Honor robot phone will be mass produced in the first half of next year. We don’t know if Honor is aiming for a global release or just launching in China, but it definitely intends to sell this crazy looking device.
In case you missed it the first time, here’s the teaser again. A gimbal camera — think the DJI Osmo Pocket, not the extra fancy OIS used by some brands — that can flip over the back and become the robot’s “head.”
As shown in the video, you can keep it in your shirt pocket and record a vlog. Or you can mount it on a bike or car and go on an adventure. But there is more to it than that.
The robot will have an AI image recognition model that will be able to recognize emotions. And since it can turn its “head” to look at the world around it – including you – it’ll feel a lot more like what AI is in the movies than what you get when you type a question into ChatGPT.
Practicality is another matter – it’s far more complicated than the pop-up cameras we’ve had in the past. That said, we’re always happy to see innovative new designs – we can’t wait!
The Honor Robot Phone is expected to launch in August, although this has not been officially confirmed.
