Honor adds Virtual Permissions feature to MagicOS that protects your private data | Infinium-tech
Have you ever had to give an app a permission you didn’t really want to use? For example, when you are asked to give access to your call history or messages to be able to use a fitness app. Well, Honor has a solution for this and it calls it Virtual Permissions.

Virtual Permissions is a feature coming to MagicOS devices this month that allows you to give empty permissions to apps you don’t trust. When enabled for select apps in the Settings menu, the system will return blank data – empty call logs, messages, incorrect camera access, etc.
Since Honor is doing this at a low-system level, we don’t understand why it wouldn’t necessarily work with all apps. MagicOS will obfuscate the app in question, so you can still use it without giving out any of your personal data. The feature comes with MagicOS 10.0.0.160, which is already being distributed to eligible Honor phones.
Notably, this feature was announced on Weibo for Chinese MagicOS users, but we don’t understand why Honor wouldn’t bring the innovation to its global smartphones.
