Here’s when the first iPhone with a 200MP camera is coming | Infinium-tech
In May, Apple was rumored to be testing a 200MP camera for the upcoming iPhone, but unfortunately no other details were shared at the time. 200MP cameras are becoming very prevalent in the Android world, so it makes sense that Apple would want to experiment with the technology and see if it suits its needs.
Today a Morgan Stanley investor note claims that Apple has made up its mind and will use a 200MP camera in the iPhone 21 coming in 2028. In terms of the nomenclature we’re using here, Apple is widely expected to release the iPhone 20 in 2027 to mark the 20th anniversary of the launch of the first iPhone. Thus, the 2028 generation will be the iPhone 21.

Of course we’re expecting the iPhone 21 Pro Max (and probably the Pro too) to be the model that debuts with a 200MP camera. The cameras will be supplied by Samsung, but it’s unclear what exact sensor Apple will use (since we’re still a long way away, the sensor in question hasn’t even been announced yet). That sensor may actually be made in the US by Samsung.
