Google unveils Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and 9 Pro Fold, Week 33 in review | Infinium-tech
Google kicked off its Pixel event two months early and unveiled the biggest lineup of Pixels ever — four. The expected Pixel 9 came with a 6.3-inch 120Hz OLED, a flat body, the new Tensor G4 chipset, and an upgraded ultrawide angle camera.
For the first time, Google made a smaller pro phone in the Pixel 9 Pro – the same 6.3-inch display diagonal, but with a better LTPO panel, a better selfie camera and a periscope zoom lens. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is the big flagship as usual, but with XL added to its name and a 0.1-inch increase in screen estate. It shares the Tensor G4 and camera system with the smaller Pixel 9 Pro.
Finally, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold brings a new design, a thinner body, larger display, and an updated hinge.
The Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL will ship in late August, while the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro Fold will arrive in September.
Google also unveiled the Pixel Watch 3, which is available in two sizes for the first time – the usual 41mm and a new 45mm. It has the same Snapdragon W5+ Generation 1 SoC for wearable devices, and the same collection of sensors like an HR monitor, ECG readings, SpO2, skin thermometer, and GPS. The new addition is the UWB chip.
Both feature the new Super Actua display, 16GB RAM, Tensor G4 SoC, and 42MP selfies.
While Google has a new smaller flagship, the vanilla model brings significant improvements over its predecessor with 12GB of RAM and a 50MP ultra-wide camera.
It’s impressive how well the Pixel 9 Pro Folds in its second version.
