Google Pixel Watch 3 only gets three years of software support | Infinium-tech
Google’s software support window is seven years for the Pixel 8a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. That’s unmatched in the mobile world to date, and so the company deserves applause for making such a promise – we’re willing to bet most people will have replaced their smartphones before those seven years are up.
However, when it comes to smartwatches, Google plays things very differently. Both the original Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 had a three-year guaranteed software support window, and the Pixel Watch 3 is in exactly the same position.
Of course, Google could still decide to release some update to the Pixel Watch 3 after October 2027 (which is oddly the cutoff month, even though the watch was announced in August), but that’s not certain. So what we have here is an interesting disparity in how smart a smartwatch isPhones And smartWatches is treated with this attitude, even though all of them are smart equipment We are talking.
Perhaps it’s expected that you’ll replace your smartwatch more often than your phone, or perhaps it’s a cynical calculation based on a selling price that’s too low. Whatever the case, keep in mind that the Pixel Watch won’t last as long as a Pixel phone, software-wise.
