Google Pixel 9 in for review | Infinium-tech
This is the Pixel 9 – the most affordable ticket to Google’s latest AI goodies. It’s a very capable but reasonably compact Android phone, which isn’t very common these days.
This year’s Pixels come in a recycled paper box with a sleeve built in. There’s a USB-C cable in the box and that’s it.
We also have the official Pixel 9 case for €40, which is available in six colors. It fits the phone perfectly, especially around the camera bar. It’s not too intrusive on the front. It’s a soft silicone, but it doesn’t dig into your pocket when you take the phone out, as some cheaper cases do.
The Pixel 9 has a new design with the camera bar no longer protruding from either end of the phone like it did on the Pixel 8 series. The frame is now flat and so is the display.
It’s a modern look that’s quite popular at the moment and we’d say most of us here at GSMArena agree that it’s the right way to go.
However, the Pixel 9 doesn’t have the same compact feel as its predecessor. It’s 11 grams heavier. It’s about 3mm longer and 1.2mm wider. While the Pixel 8 felt small in the hand, the Pixel 9 has crossed that boundary and feels closer to a large phone.
The beauty of it is that it now has a slightly bigger display (0.1 inch) and a 3% bigger battery.
Pixel 8 owners probably shouldn’t rush out to get the new one, but those who are in more need of an upgrade should wait for our full review!
