Google announces four new Android features that aren’t limited to Pixels | Infinium-tech
Google is introducing four new Android features, and these features are not just limited to Pixel. A bonus feature has also been mentioned for Wear OS. Let’s take a look at it.
First up, Android’s screen reader, TalkBack, will let you hear detailed audio descriptions of images using Gemini models “on supported devices,” whether you’re looking at pictures in your camera roll, in text messages, or on social media.
Next, Google has made official the Circle to Search feature, which we’ve already talked about – it’s the ability to identify what song is playing around you or on your phone.
Third, you can now listen to pages in Chrome, regardless of their content. You can choose your preferred listening speed, as well as the type of voice and language, just like podcasts.
The Android Earthquake Alerts system is expanding to all U.S. states and six territories, using crowd-sourced data to detect earthquakes and provide potentially life-saving warnings seconds before they start. You’ll also get suggestions on what to do next once the quake is over.
Finally, as we reported a few weeks ago, you can use offline maps on Google Maps on Wear OS. Your watch can access maps downloaded to your phone. Two new shortcuts let you search for destinations with your voice when online, or see your location on a map by tapping your watch face.
