Galaxy S25 Ultra leaks in live video, Huawei launches Mate 70 series, Week 48 in review | Infinium-tech
This week brings us our best look at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung’s top-tier flagship for 2025 will ditch the sharp edges of its predecessor in favor of a more rounded shell.
It appears that the corners of the display are also rounded. There’s a familiar camera arrangement on the back with four shooters positioned inside their own rings. The new leak also gave us a glimpse of One UI 7.0, which features redesigned icons, a Control Center, and a Camera app UI.
It also appeared on Geekbench alongside the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
It has a flat design with slightly rounded corners.
Huawei held a big launch event this week, introducing the Mate70 series. The lineup consists of four devices – the Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+ and the top-tier Mate 70 RS Ultimate.
All four new Mates feature LTPO OLEDs with FHD+ resolution and 1-120Hz refresh rate. The RS Ultimate gets a brilliant dual-layer OLED with 3,500 nits peak brightness.
All four devices share a 50MP RYYB main sensor with a 24mm variable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture lens and a 40MP ultrawide module. The new Huawei flagship also gets a new spectral imaging sensor that collects more color data, which should translate into better color accuracy, natural skin tones, and better shadow preservation. The Pros and RS Ultimate have a 48MP periscope (3.5x zoom), while the vanilla comes with a 12MP periscope (5x zoom).
In typical Huawei fashion, there are no official details on the chipset inside the new devices. According to speculations, the Mate 70 uses the Kirin 9010 while the two Pro and RS Ultimate are reportedly preferring the brand new Kirin 9020. The Mate 70 price starts at CNY 5,499 ($757), the Mate 70 Pro+ is priced at CNY 6,499 ($895). The Mate 70 Pro+ is priced starting at CNY 8,499 ($1,173), while the RS Ultimate is priced at CNY 11,999 ($1,656).
Both phones feature Huawei’s new Red Maple spectral imaging sensor and variable aperture on the main 50MP cameras.
Huawei has been secretive about the chipsets inside the new models, saying only that they are 40% faster.
Xiaomi unveiled its Redmi K80 series, which includes the Redmi K80 and Redmi K80 Pro. Both feature a 6.67” OLED display with QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The vanilla model uses last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip while the Pro gets the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite.
There’s a 50MP OmniVision OVX8000 main camera on both, while the K80 Pro gets a great 50MP telephoto lens and a 32MP ultrawide module. Both phones are equipped with large silicon carbon batteries and HyperOS 2 based on Android 15.
An overall upgrade in terms of performance and stamina compared to last year’s K70 Pro. And there is a Lamborghini special edition.
The phone also has an IP68 rating and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader beneath the beautiful 6.67″ 12-bit display, but it’s one camera smaller than the K80 Pro.
The price of Redmi K80 starts at CNY 2,500 ($345), while the K80 Pro is priced at CNY 3,700 ($510). Chinese buyers can also get the K80 Pro Lamborghini Squadra Corse Special Edition for CNY 4,999 ($690).
It is equipped with midrange Snapdragon chipset.
Next year’s Pro model will have the biggest design changes in years.
Otherwise, all upgrades will be on the inside.
These are likely to become official in the next few weeks.
