First foldable iPhone to be flip-style, landing in 2026 | Infinium-tech
Apple’s first foldable iPhone has been in the news for several years, and it has yet to materialize. However, according to a new report from Asia Today, that could change in 2026.
The report claims it will be a flip-style foldable reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6, and not the Fold6. Apple has reportedly begun the research and development phase for the device this year, which means a 2026 release is likely based on its typical two-year development cycle for smartphones.
What does AI think a foldable iPhone will look like?
The folding screen will be supplied by Samsung Display, and apparently a contract has already been signed with Apple for this. According to the report, when folded, the dimensions of the first foldable iPhone will be “the same as the current iPhone”. We assume this means length and width, not thickness.
Some previous rumors claimed that Apple’s first foldable device would be the iPad, but the company has reportedly changed its strategy “due to challenges faced in the Chinese smartphone market,” and thus the foldable iPhone will now be its first folding product.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 for reference
As always, don’t take this too seriously, as reports about a foldable iPhone have been around for years, but there has been no actual product launch. The wait continues.
