Epic Games Store launches on mobile | Infinium-tech

More than four years ago, Fortnite was removed from the App Store and Google Play because it tried to bypass Apple and Google’s payment systems for in-game purchases of V-Bucks, the in-game currency. The game studio began a long legal journey against Apple and Google, which led to the official launch of the Epic Games Store for iOS and Android today.

Fortnite is officially back on mobile for Android users worldwide and iOS users in the EU. It’s joined by Rocket League Sideswipe and Fall Guys, the latter of which has officially debuted on mobile. You’ll need an iPhone running iOS 17.6, while the system requirement for Android is Android 7.0 or later. The download file is 25MB. Epic has confirmed that Fortnite and Fall Guys have full functionality and cross-platform account progression.

The tide is turning and the mobile ecosystem is finally opening up to competition. We’re grateful to the European Commission for making it possible to launch the Epic Games Store and offer our games to iOS users across the EU. Now European iOS users and all Android users can access our store and games, just as they always have been able to on open platforms like PC and Mac. The fight is not over yet, but this is solid progress for developers and consumers who can start to benefit from competition and choice.” – Tim Sweeney, CEO and Founder of Epic Games

Epic Games’ mobile titles are also available on AltStore PAL starting today and will soon be available on Aptoide Store for iOS and One Store for Android. Epic plans to bring its games to more third-party app stores going forward. Epic also plans to launch exclusive games for its mobile store.
