Epic Games has announced its new strategy for mobile app stores. The video game publisher is ending its distribution partnerships with mobile stores, which it calls “rent collectors,” and instead opting to offer its games to Android users worldwide and iOS users in the European Union through the upcoming Epic Games Store.

Epic also announced that it will bring its mobile game portfolio (including Fortnite) to AltStore for iOS users in the EU. Epic plans to expand to two more third-party stores soon.

On the other hand, Epic is removing its game library from the Samsung Galaxy Store due to Samsung’s new app sideloading policies. Samsung introduced the Auto Blocker feature with One UI 6 to prevent malware and USB hijacking.

One UI 6.1.1 has expanded its restrictions for app sideloading, which means that any Samsung Galaxy phone running One UI 6.1.1 will not be able to sideload apps by default. There is an easy workaround that involves turning off the AutoBlocker feature from the Settings menu. Devices running older versions of OneUI 6 are not affected by the AutoBlocker sideloading protection yet.
