Epic Games’ latest court win against Google will transform the Play Store forever | Infinium-tech
The ongoing epic game vs Google legal battle is near its end and Fortnite is emerging as the winner. After the victory of its court from 2023 and 2024, Epic has now won its latest win as the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals denied Google’s appeal.

This means that Google will now be forced to allow the third party app store to publicly appear within the Play Store and to allow independently operating with full access to its app catalog over the next three years.
App developers can establish and use alternative billing systems for apps and subscriptions, bypassing Google’s own payment system and its 30% app tax. In addition, developers will be able to link users to freely download options outside the Play Store.

Google has also been banned from offering the device manufacturers or carriers in any form to offer money or allowances in any form to prevent them from preparation of pre-aquin-sided app stores on the devices.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeny confirmed that Epic Games Store for Android is coming in Google Play as soon as possible.
Li-Annie Mulholland, head of Google’s regulatory cases, issued a statement following a court verdict, claiming that it would “harm the user safety” and “weakens innovations that make Android competitive”. Google is expected to appeal to the decision in the Supreme Court, but it still has to start implementing new changes.
