Huawei is expected to lead all brands with a 12% increase in shipment. This figure is primarily responsible for the strong demand for its equipment during the ongoing government subsidy program with the annual 618 shopping festival.
In the National Subsidy program, the price of smartphones, tablets, smart bands and smartwatches is below CNY 6,000 ($ 820) and offers a one -time discount of CNY 500 ($ 68). An inherent issue is that the program can be extended back to the second half of the year.
Apple is the only other top-five brand that is expected to look at positive shipments for the Q2 period with an estimated 8% increase. Apple thanked the growing demand for its iPhone 16 series in May for exemption from China’s 618 shopping festival.
