ColorOS design boss says the next iteration won’t copy Apple’s Liquid Glass | Infinium-tech
Earlier this month, a rumor from China claimed that Oppo’s ColorOS 17 will be largely inspired by Apple’s Liquid Glass design language, borrowing some elements from it, while keeping the effect less transparent than Apple did in iOS 26 (it’s worth noting that Apple itself is reducing the transparency of Liquid Glass in iOS 27 and also gives you a slider to customize it).
However, it seems that that rumor was just pure speculation. Today, ColorOS design director Chen Xi posted on Weibo, saying that ColorOS 17 will focus on improving the basic user experience, and thus will not include any major redesign. New features will also be postponed – it’s not clear whether this means they’ll come in ColorOS 17.1 or 17.5, for example, or we’ll have to wait until ColorOS 18 arrives.

Anyway, he claims that some of Oppo’s competitors may be following a similar design to Apple’s Liquid Glass, but (at least for now) Oppo is not doing that. Then it gets resolved to a great extent. What do you think? Do you like the current ColorOS design? Or would you prefer to take it the iOS route? Let us know in the comments.
