ChatGPT Search is here to take on Google | Infinium-tech
ChatGPT’s much-awaited search function is now live. It’s called ChatGPT Search, and it searches the web for you. The twist is that it’s integrated into ChatGPT, and ChatGPT can choose to find some of the things you ask about for you. You can also manually click/tap on the search option after inputting anything in the text box.
OpenAI says it “blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes and more”. The company has partnered with “news and data providers to add the latest information and new visual designs for categories like weather, stocks, sports, news, and maps.”
With ChatGPT, chat now includes links to sources like news articles and blog posts, which should have been there from day one, but better late than never. However you have to click on the Source button below the response, then a sidebar will open with all the references.
OpenAI says it collaborated extensively with the news industry and listened carefully to feedback from its global publisher partners ahead of this launch. Feedback from the SearchGPT prototype was also incorporated into ChatGPT Search. In the future, the company promises to improve the new service, “especially in areas such as shopping and travel”.
ChatGPT Search is now available chatgpt.comAs well as through the ChatGPT desktop and mobile apps, for all ChatGPT Plus and Teams users as well as SearchGPT waitlist users. Enterprise and Edu users will get access “in the next few weeks,” while free users will get the feature “in the coming months.”
