Canalys: India is now the leading smartphone exporter to the US | Infinium-tech
India has surpassed China as the leading manufacturing center for smartphones sold in the US. latest Canalis The report shows that 44% of all American smartphones imports for April -June period (Q2) were built in India. This is a significant increase compared to last year, when India was responsible for just 13% of all American smartphones imports, while China assured 61% shares.

Apple played a major role in India’s rise as a major smartphone exporter of America. The Cupertino is stocking the iPhone inventory to absorb tariff blow after the “Liberation Day” tariff of Trump administration.
This step is also part of Apple’s prolonged effort to remove its iPhone production from China. A October report suggested that Apple is also doing initial manufacturing work on iPhones in India and Cupertino allegedly planned to convert all American iPhone production to India by next year.

But this is not just Apple, as Samsung and Motorola have also increased the supply of their smartphones from India.

Given the numbers, Apple Q2 had a clear-cut leader on the US smartphone scene with 13.3 million shipments and 49% market share. Samsung came second with an estimated 8.3 million shipments with 31% market share, while Motorola was third with 3.2 million shipments and 12% market share.

Google and TCL shared each each with 3% market share with quarterly shipments below 1 million below 1 million. A total of 27.1 million smartphones were sent to the US during the Q2 period, which is a slightly 1% annual growth. The demand for the US smartphone is expected to be at the top in the second half of the year.
