BOE isn’t supplying iPhone 17 Pro screens anymore, new report says | Infinium-tech
Chinese panel maker BOE is no longer supplying screens for the iPhone 17 Pro to Apple, according to a new report out of Korea. BOE is reportedly facing product reliability issues, which it may not resolve by the end of the year.

Thus, Apple has shifted the order to Samsung displays that was supposed to go to BOE. BOE had entered the supply chain for the iPhone 17 Pro models sold in the Chinese market, and up to 10 million panels were scheduled to be supplied.

Since BOE has not been able to fix the problems with those panels, the “industry consensus” is that it has indeed failed to be a supplier to Apple this time. As a result, Samsung Display will increase its supply of OLED panels to Apple to 90 million from the initially arranged 80 million units.
Thus, when we take into account other iPhone models for which BOE is a supplier, the Chinese company will not be able to achieve its target of 40 million this year. BOE’s issues apparently stem from the fact that Apple wants LTPO panels for the iPhone 17 Pro, and it’s apparently difficult for BOE to make it to Apple’s standards.
Recently, Samsung has settled a patent dispute with BOE regarding OLED panel infringement, and BOE is going to pay royalties to Samsung for using its intellectual property.
