Apple Mac mini (M4) in for review | Infinium-tech
Today we have the new 2024 Mac Mini, with a new design and the latest Apple M4 processor.
The new Mac mini is an incredibly small computer, measuring just five inches in length and width, while the height is just under two inches. The design is only an inch larger than the latest Apple TV 4K models, which is incredible when you consider that the Mac mini is a full-fledged computer.
The packaging of the new models is no more elaborate than that of a computer, which is typical for Apple. It’s relatively empty inside with just a power cable, which is also typical of Apple.
The new Mac mini has a new port layout. There are three Thunderbolt ports on the back, which are Thunderbolt 5 on the M4 Pro model and Thunderbolt 4 on the M4. You also get HDMI 2.1, Gigabit Ethernet (with an optional 10Gbps upgrade), and a power connector. This generation features new ports on the front, including two USB-C ports, a power LED, and a headphone jack.
The Mac mini gives you a choice of M4 or M4 Pro processors along with a range of memory and storage options. Our unit here is the full base model, which has an M4 processor, 16GB of memory, and 256GB of storage and comes in at $599. We thought this would be the most popular model this time (it’s undoubtedly the best value) so we chose it.
Over the next few days, we’ll be putting this little computer through its paces, checking out productivity performance, gaming, and thermals. Stay tuned for the full review and let us know if there’s anything specific you’d like to see tested.
